Jelgava Secondary School no 4 the biggest schools in Jelgava and 4th biggest school in Latvia. Our school has stable traditions and we having been progressive in all periods of history of Latvia. The school was founded in 1945.
There are 1300 students (7-12 grades) and 120 teachers in Jelgava Secondary School no 4. The school has four educational programmes: Basic Education programme (7-9 grade) and Humanitarian and Social Science programme, Professional Commercial Science programme, General Education programme. School offers a wide range of after school activities: theatre, dance group, choir, etc. Our school is specialised into a music and sport.
The school is situated in Jelgava, a city in central Latvia about 41 km southwest of Riga with about 64,000 inhabitants. It is the largest town in the region of Zemgale (Semigalia). Jelgava was a capital of the united Duchy of Courland and Semigallia and an administrative centre of the Courland Governorate, Russian Empire until 1919.
Our school has been involved in various European projects for more than ten years. Students and teachers in our school are interested to participate in projects. Currently we have two active projects running. One just started and the second one finishes this school year. So it`s time to join to a new project to involve new students and let them be active and study new things and develop different skill trough the project.
